Gaylaird will be leading a 3 hour Pre-conference workshop on Saturday, September 16th entitled “Partnerships Make $cents” at the CEFPI 83rd Annual Conference inPhoenix, Arizona. Here is a short blurb on the workshop:
With regards to Clients and Partnering, it is agreed that the community is best served when agencies and institutions combine their resources in order to better serve their constituents. District 129 Aurora, Illinois is a prime example of effective partnership involving the story of a school district inviting a university on to the school campuses and the district onto the university campus. The district was experiencing growth; the problem was that teachers were not being trained adequately by the local universities to meet the needs of the district strongly developmental learning/teaching philosophy. For an investment of $150,000.00 the university acquired a multi-million dollar teaching laboratory while the district acquired additional teaching assistance and the wisdom of the scholar-in-residence at no additional cost. The true beneficiaries are the students, members of the community, and student teachers whose experience is truly enriched. One of the greatest synergies that came out of the partnership is the district’s ability to maximize the benefit of their partnership through the construction of their new buildings. The success of these teaching campuses has led to huge support.
